This page sets out what TheTruckChef collects when you visit, why it is collected, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The scope of this page
What follows applies to this site alone. Sites we link to run their own policies, and any social platform we post on collects under its own terms, not ours.
The data that passes through
Your browser sends technical information to our server on every request: IP address, browser and device type, the pages you open, the referring address, and how long you stay. This is ordinary web-server behaviour and we do not tie it to a name.
You give us data only when you choose to: an email address if you subscribe, and whatever you write if you use the contact form.
What it is used for
- Deliver the site and keep it standing.
- Judge, across the whole audience, which food truck cooking pages are worth keeping.
- Handle your message and respond to it.
- Mail the newsletter to the people who asked for it.
- Respond to a lawful request when we receive one.
Third parties
Four outside services touch this data, each under its own privacy policy: Google Analytics (aggregate statistics), Google AdSense (advertising), our hosting provider (server logs), and our email provider (newsletter delivery). They may set their own cookies.
Because Google and our other providers are United States companies, data that reaches them is handled outside the EEA and the United Kingdom. The safeguards for those transfers are the ones those providers publish; we add none of our own.
Newsletter data
An email address is all the newsletter needs, and all it gets. It is used to send issues, never shared, and deleted from the list when you unsubscribe rather than marked inactive.
Lawful basis
European and United Kingdom law asks for a lawful basis, so here they are: consent for anything you opt into, legitimate interest for the operation and aggregate measurement of the site, and legal obligation where applicable. Consent is reversible on request.
How long anything lasts
Nothing is kept indefinitely on purpose. The host rotates its logs, Google Analytics applies its configured retention period, subscription addresses remain until you unsubscribe, and correspondence goes once it has served its purpose.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Every newsletter carries an unsubscribe link that works. Your browser settings control cookies. Readers in the EEA, the UK and California have additional statutory rights, and we honour them for everyone.
Under-13s
TheTruckChef is not written for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us information, tell us and it will be removed.
Automated processing
No decision about you is made automatically here, and there is no profiling with legal or similarly significant effect. The site publishes articles; it does not score readers.
What we do not do
There is no sale of personal information and no sharing for another party’s marketing. That answers the California opt-out question directly, rather than by pointing you at a form.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS and access to anything we store is restricted. That is protection, not invulnerability, and we will not dress it up as more than it is.
Escalating
Complaints are best raised with us first, through the contact page, because that is quickest. You keep the right to go straight to your data protection authority instead.
When this changes
Any revision is dated at the top of the page, and anything substantial is flagged on the site itself.
